When King Exiv went into the horizon, to "find his kingdom," he knew the language of the Ancients, but most
communication done during his reign was done by the "Collective Thought." Vocal speech was not common during his reign,
and the only ones who used vocal and "mind" speech were the elfs. After Exiv's fall, evidences of another dialect arose with Kue,
when people learned to speak vocally again. Fortunately for those who forgot vocal speech in Exiv's kingdom, the elfs living in
the East taught vocal speech to those who forgot how to speak. About this time, a migration of Nash nomads and sojourners from
the south brought their speech to the Kue Continent. The origin of the Weàlsh language is derived from the mentoring of
the elfs and the Nash Migration of the South. Among those who arrived with the Nash Migration was Tarloc, the Father Historian.
He also is known as the Great Prophet and some say he could've been Jax reborn.
§ The Kue or Cuòuae Dialects of Kue Continent. §
Cáternóich (High Cáterneàsh): This is the dialect spoken predominantly by the elfs in the Eàsceànn (Eastern Corridor); Cátern, Eluíra and areas of Thoris Port. Most of what you have seen
recently (on the website and in writings) has been Cáternóic. Apart from the other dialects, the runes seen for Cáternóic do not have letter-equivalents to the letters: W, V, K, Z, J, Q, Y or X.
The oldest dialect on the Kue Continent is Cáterneàsh, a lower form of Cáternóic, which was spoken by the Gaggkon. Evidence of the Cáternóic Runes are seen and are usually associated with the Gaggkon, the Ancients.
The original settlers of the Kue Continent spoke a form of Ardònic, the language of Mt. Kravòkalla and Krav. This speech merged with the dialect of the ancients to form Weàlsh Kue, the language of man.
Weàlsh: Not to be confused with the Welsh language in Great Britain, this tongue is the dialect of men of Dunsha, Kue Proper, Welmor, Dephas, Sheíbban, etc. Granted there are variations in each of
the Twelve Kingdoms of Men, but the common tongue for man is Weàlsh. It is also the feudal tongue of the Kue Empire today. Many of the names of places, gods and heroes seen on this site are Weàlsh. For instance:
Wuàde, Kuírbha, Welmor, Alkagora, Daulky Kinkayle, Vall, etc. During the Sixth Era, many eastern settlements were renamed by historians and scribes with Weàlsh names during the reign of King Ilùviuks.
Incorporated in the Weàlsh dialect remains the original traces of Nash, the language spoken by Tarloc, the Historian. Tarloc arrived from the desert lands of Onaisha, deep in the south regions of the
Xèmas Continent, the "golden continent." Some of the Nash names, such as Exiv, Owedæghax (Jax), Akkævall, Sunokwatz, Xandràxan, Satash, etc. were incorporated into Weàlsh Kue. Whilst the Weàlsh Runes are
similar to Cáternóic, there are English letter-equivalents for over 30 sounds in Weàlsh. High Weàlsh include extra runes, making diphthongs and letter combinations like CH, KH, SH, etc.
Rhuíash: This dialect belongs to the dark elfs in the Artic regions of Arden, The Arm of the Dragon, Draccòna, Racha-Àirgèos, Mirror Island and Solcrànous (Fellowship of the Crown),
the Great, Northern Capital of elfs. It is almost a dead dialect, and very few speak it. It has become a battle tongue for the elfs of Cátern and Ely. Since there are no derivatives or correlation between Cáterneàsh
or Rhuíash, this has enabled the elfs to speak a "secret" tongue. Legend has it that Queen Saskía originated this dialect, but there is enough proof to state that this tongue existed before her time. The only
correlation to Cáternóic and Rhuíash are the runes and the same letter-equivalents. Rhuíash do not have runes for the sounds of W, V, K, Z, J, Q, Y or X. There are traces to this dialect in the "Book of the Morning"
when a feud arose between Saskía and Lady Ellaphnoír in Ely. Most especially, Rhuíash is seen in the "Golden Book" of Jax. Jax fluently knew the tongue and encrypted his journal with the dark, elfin tongue.
It is quite possible that this too was the language of the Abjurants and the Children of the Morning. Today, it is a forgotten language.
Ilùvian: Not really a dialect, but during the reign of King Ilùviuks, the King used wordplay on many of the sacred names of Cátern, like Ikhthrako, Ikhthrakon, Axis and Kuíl.
The origin of Ilùvian is debatable. Some say, during the Sad Era, many of the elfin lands in the east were inhabited by men, and many of the men who wrote Weàlsh, brought their dialect and runes with them.
The Shreeves and Nobles of King Ilùviuks pride their utterance of Ilùvian, saying King Ilùviuks coined the dialect during the Kíette Era.
The Nobles say that King Ilùviuks fashioned his own kingdom dialect, incorporating both Weàlsh and Cáternóic, to spite the elfs in the East and King Tristan. Ilùvian was commonly spoken in the Ikhthrakon Corridor.
Other traces to this dialect are not found elsewhere in Arden or the East. It was known as the "fire fief's tongue."
